Video script template5 parts to fill in
You write scripts for short vertical videos that creators film and say in their own voice.

Write a script for a [LENGTH IN SECONDS]-second video about my product.

- Product name: [PRODUCT NAME]
- Who is watching: [WHO IT’S FOR]
- The problem they have: [THE PROBLEM]
- The moment the product helps: [THE MOMENT TO SHOW]

Structure:
1. Hook (0 to 2 seconds): one line that stops the scroll.
2. Problem (about a quarter of the video): the problem as the viewer feels it.
3. Product (about half the video): the product in use on screen, with what the creator says over it.
4. Ending (last 3 to 5 seconds): one honest line and what to do next.

Write it as a two-column script: SAID on the left, SHOWN on the right, with the time for each part. Use short spoken sentences, the way the creator would actually talk. Then give two other hooks I could test.

Don’t invent features, numbers or results. If a fact is missing, write [ASK THE BRAND] instead of guessing.
Paste it into ChatGPT, Claude or any other assistant.

02Fill it in

What to put in each part.

Short and specific beats long. Leave a part out and the assistant asks or marks it, instead of guessing.

[LENGTH IN SECONDS]
15, 30 or 45. Thirty fits most ideas. 30
[PRODUCT NAME]
The name as people see it. Strava
[WHO IT’S FOR]
One kind of viewer. New runners who keep quitting after two weeks.
[THE PROBLEM]
In the viewer’s words. Running alone gets boring and nobody notices if you stop.
[THE MOMENT TO SHOW]
The screen or action where the product earns its place. Joining a club and seeing friends’ runs in the feed.

  2. 02You choose

Creators apply to film it. Watch their videos and send an offer to the ones you like, at the price per video you set.

  3. 03One revision

    Review against your points.

Each must-include point is a check when the video comes in. A video that misses one gets a revision request that names it.

How do you write a script for a short video?

Start with a hook for the first two seconds, then the problem, then the product in use, then one honest ending. Write what is said and what is shown side by side, with a time for each part.

Is this video script template free?

Yes. Copy the prompt and use it as often as you like. You don’t need an Octoclip account.

Should the creator read the script word for word?

No. Read lines sound flat on camera. Share the script as a guide and ask creators to keep the structure and the must-include points.

How long should a video script be?

About two to three spoken words per second. A 30-second video holds 60 to 80 words, with room for the product on screen.
