01In short

What are partnership ads?

Partnership ads are Instagram and Facebook ads that run from a creator’s account together with your brand’s, so the ad shows both names. Meta used to call them branded content ads, and many marketers still say whitelisting. They need the creator’s permission. Brands use them because the ad carries a real person’s handle, not only a logo.

Octoclip is
A marketplace where brands hire creators for posts they can run as partnership ads, at a fixed price.
Octoclip is not
An ads manager, an agency or a pay-per-view clipping tool. You run the ads in your own Meta account.

02The guide

How to run partnership ads on Instagram and Facebook.

Five steps, from hiring the creator to the ad in your account.

  1. Hire a creator for an Instagram post

Post a job on Octoclip, say in the brief that the post will be run as a partnership ad, and choose from the creators who apply.

  2. Approve the video

Check it against your must-include points. The creator publishes it on their own account, where it stays live.

  3. Get the creator’s permission

The creator approves your request in Instagram, or sends you a partnership ad code for the post. Ask for it in the brief so it is agreed before filming.

  4. Set up the ad in Meta Ads Manager

Create the ad as a partnership ad and choose the creator’s post instead of uploading a file.

  5. Put budget behind what holds attention

Run several creators’ posts side by side, keep the ones people watch, and send those creators your next brief. The ROAS calculator shows what each ad returns.

03Two ways to work

Creator posts for partnership ads, UGC videos for your own ads.

Each job is one type. You set the price per video, and creators see it before they apply.

05Ideas to brief

Creator posts brands turn into partnership ads.

Four posts to brief when you plan to run them as ads on Instagram and Facebook.

  • First try

    A first reaction

The creator tries the product on camera. The opening seconds do the work of the ad.

  • Routine

    Part of the day

The product in the creator’s real routine, filmed the way they always film.

  • Before and after

    With it and without it

The same moment twice, so the difference is on screen.

  • Review

    An honest review

What they liked and who it is for, said to their own followers.

06Pricing

How much do creator posts for partnership ads cost?

08Avoid these

Four mistakes with partnership ads.

  • Asking for permission after filming

If the creator did not expect their post to become an ad, you may not get the approval. Put it in the brief.

  • No ad rights in writing

A message saying “sure” is not a licence. On Octoclip the right to run approved content as paid ads is in the contract.

  • Running one post

One post gives you nothing to compare. Hire several creators on the same brief and let the ads account show you which to keep.

  • Letting the post disappear

An ad built on a post stops if the post is deleted. Creator posts on Octoclip stay live for the period set in the contract.

Talk to us
What is the difference between partnership ads and whitelisting?

They are the same idea. Whitelisting is the older, informal name for running ads through a creator’s account. Partnership ads are Meta’s own tool for it, with the creator’s approval built in.

What is the difference between partnership ads and Spark Ads?

The platform. Partnership ads are Meta’s, for Instagram and Facebook. Spark Ads are TikTok’s. Both run a creator’s post as your ad and both need the creator’s permission. See TikTok Spark Ads.

How do I get a partnership ad code?

The creator generates it in Instagram for the post you want to promote and sends it to you. Say in your Octoclip brief that you will need it, so every creator who applies has agreed.

Do I have the right to run a creator’s post as an ad?

On Octoclip, yes. The contract both sides accept lets you use approved content in paid ads, including partnership ads and Spark Ads.

How much does a creator post cost?

Posting a job, reviewing applicants and sending offers are free. You set a fixed price per video and pay only when a creator accepts your offer. The full amount is shown before you send the offer.

Do partnership ads perform better than normal ads?

Results differ by product and audience, which is why brands run several creators’ posts side by side. Octoclip does not sell or guarantee downloads, installs or views. You pay a fixed price for each approved video.

When is a creator paid?

Their payment is secured when they accept, before any work starts, and released for each video you approve.

Does Octoclip run the ads for me?

No. You run them in your own Meta ads account. Octoclip gets you the creator posts, the contract and the payments.
