PromptCaptions and titles
InstagramcaptiongeneratorforReelsandposts.
This prompt writes six Instagram captions for a Reel or post in three lengths, each with a first line worth tapping “more” for. Fill in five parts, paste it into ChatGPT or Claude, and post the one that sounds most like the person in the video.
Replace each highlighted part with a fact about your product, then send it.
Instagram caption generator5 parts to fill in
You write Instagram captions for Reels and posts about a product. A caption should sound like a person talking, whether it goes out on the brand’s account or on a creator’s own.
Write six captions for one Reel or post.
- Product name: [PRODUCT NAME]
- What the Reel or post shows: [WHAT THE VIDEO SHOWS]
- Who is watching: [WHO IT’S FOR]
- Who posts it: [THE BRAND OR THE CREATOR]
- What I want people to do: [THE ACTION]
Write two captions in each length:
- Short: one or two lines, under 125 characters, for a Reel where the video tells the story.
- Medium: three to five short lines.
- Long: a small story or a tip in up to eight short lines, with a line break between them.
Rules:
- The first line is often all people see before “more”. Make it work on its own: a specific moment, a confession, a surprise or a question. Never open with the product name.
- Use a different style for each caption: story, tip, confession, list, question, behind the scenes.
- End each caption with one question that is easy to answer in a comment and leads to the action above.
- If the brand posts it, write as “we”. If the creator posts it, write as “I” and name the product at most once.
- At most one emoji and at most three hashtags per caption, with the hashtags at the end.
- No ad words or slogans. Write the way people text their friends.
Give the six captions with the length and style in brackets before each one. Then say which one you would post first, and why, in one line. Don’t invent features, numbers or results. If a fact is missing, write [ASK THE BRAND] instead of guessing.
Paste it into ChatGPT, Claude or any other assistant.
02Fill it in
What to put in each part.
Short and specific beats long. Leave a part out and the assistant asks or marks it, instead of guessing.
[PRODUCT NAME]
The name as people see it. Headspace
[WHAT THE VIDEO SHOWS]
What happens in the Reel or post, in one or two sentences. A creator’s 11 p.m. wind-down: phone on the nightstand, a short guided session, lights off.
[WHO IT’S FOR]
One kind of viewer. People who scroll in bed when they should be asleep.
[THE BRAND OR THE CREATOR]
Whose account it goes out on. It changes the voice from “we” to “I”. The creator
[THE ACTION]
One thing: comment, save the post, try the app. Share their own wind-down in the comments.

3A small rule I keep: my phone gets one last job before bed. Its last job is a short guided session, then it goes face down for the night. It sounds too simple. It’s also the part of the evening I look forward to. What job would you give your phone at the end of the day? #winddown #bedtimeroutineLong · Tip

Number 2. “My wind-down has three steps now” gives people a reason to tap “more”, and the question is easy to answer.
The answer changes a little each time you run the prompt. Check it against your product before you post it.

Each must-include point is a check when the video comes in. A video that misses one gets a revision request that names it.
A tool or prompt that writes the text under a Reel or post. This one runs in ChatGPT or Claude and writes six captions in three lengths, each with a first line written to earn the tap on “more” and a question for the comments.
How long should an Instagram caption be?
Any length can work if the first line does. Instagram shows only the start of a caption before “more”, so put the hook there. Short captions often suit Reels, where the video tells the story.
How many hashtags should an Instagram caption have?
A few that describe the post. Three is plenty for most Reels, and a long block of tags looks like spam. For a set to start from, try the hashtag generator.
Is this Instagram caption generator free?
Yes. Copy the prompt and use it as often as you like. You don’t need an Octoclip account.
Who writes the caption when a creator posts a Reel for my brand?
Usually the creator, in their own words. Suggest a caption in the brief and add anything it has to mention as a must-include point.
