Creative brief template6 parts to fill in
You are a UGC strategist. You write briefs for short videos that creators film on their phones for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.

Write a one-page creative brief for a creator who will film a UGC video about my product.

About the product:
- Product name: [PRODUCT NAME]
- What it does, in one sentence: [WHAT IT DOES]
- Who it is for: [WHO IT’S FOR]
- The one moment to show on screen: [THE MOMENT TO SHOW]
- Where the video will run: [TIKTOK, REELS OR SHORTS]
- What the creator must not say or show: [WHAT TO AVOID]

Write the brief in plain words a creator can film from, with these parts:
1. The idea, in one line.
2. Three hooks for the first two seconds, each in a different style: a question, a bold statement and a reaction.
3. What to show, shot by shot, with the product in the creator’s own hands or on their own phone, and a length for each shot.
4. What to say, as talking points in the creator’s own words, not a script to read.
5. Three to five must-include points the video has to cover.
6. Format: 9:16, 20 to 40 seconds, filmed in natural light, no copyrighted music.
7. What to avoid, including everything I listed above.

Keep it under 300 words. Don’t invent features, numbers or results. If a fact is missing, write [ASK THE BRAND] instead of guessing.
Paste it into ChatGPT, Claude or any other assistant.

02Fill it in

What to put in each part.

Short and specific beats long. Leave a part out and the assistant asks or marks it, instead of guessing.

[PRODUCT NAME]
The name as people see it in the app store or on the box. Strava
[WHAT IT DOES]
One sentence, the way you’d say it to a friend. Records your runs and rides and shares them with friends.
[WHO IT’S FOR]
One kind of person, not everyone. People who run a few times a week and want to keep going.
[THE MOMENT TO SHOW]
The one screen or action where the product makes sense. Finishing a run and getting Kudos from friends.
[TIKTOK, REELS OR SHORTS]
Where the video runs first. Pick one. TikTok
[WHAT TO AVOID]
Claims you can’t make, other brands, anything off-limits. Health or weight-loss claims.

What goes in a creative brief for a UGC video?

The idea in one line, a few hooks for the first two seconds, the shots, talking points, the must-include points, the format and what to avoid. One page is enough. A creator should be able to film from it without a call.

Is this creative brief template free?

Yes. Copy it, change it and use it as often as you like. You don’t need an Octoclip account.

Should I give the creator a full script?

Usually not. The prompt writes talking points, because creators sound most natural in their own words. If a line has to be said exactly, add it to the must-include points.

How do I turn the brief into a job on Octoclip?

Post a job free and paste the brief in. Each hook can be its own video angle, and each must-include point is a check when you review the video. You pay when a creator accepts your offer.

Does Octoclip see what I paste?

No. You paste the prompt into your own assistant and the answer stays in your chat.
