In short
What is CPA?
CPA means cost per acquisition: what you pay in ads for one customer, sign-up or install. Divide ad spend by the number of conversions. Spend 2,000 for 80 sign-ups and your CPA is 25. It tells you whether an ad is worth running, because you can set it against what one customer is worth to you.

How to read it
How to calculate CPA, and how to use it.
Five steps from the number to a decision.
- 01
Use the formula
CPA = ad spend ÷ conversions. For apps the same sum gives cost per install.
- 02
Decide what counts
A sale, a trial, a sign-up, an install. Pick one and keep it the same across every ad you compare.
- 03
Set it against customer value
A CPA of 25 is cheap if a customer is worth 200 and expensive if they are worth 20. The ROAS calculator puts revenue beside it.
- 04
Check it per ad
One ad often carries the account. Look at CPA ad by ad before you move budget.
- 05
Test new creative
The video is the part of an ad you fully control, so it is the first thing to change when CPA climbs: see UGC ads.

CPA, answered.
What people ask about these numbers, and how Octoclip prices a video.
What is the CPA formula?
CPA = ad spend ÷ conversions. Spend 2,000 and get 80 sign-ups and the CPA is 25.
What is a good CPA?
One that is comfortably below what a customer is worth to you. There is no general figure, because that value differs for every business.
What is the difference between CPA and CAC?
CPA usually counts ad spend for one campaign or channel. CAC, customer acquisition cost, counts everything it took to win a customer, including salaries and tools.
Is cost per install the same as CPA?
It is CPA with an app install as the conversion. Use the calculator the same way: ad spend divided by installs.
How can I lower my CPA?
Brands usually test new creative, a different offer or a different audience, one at a time. Nobody can promise the result. Octoclip does not sell or guarantee downloads, installs or views. You pay a fixed price for each approved video.
How much does new ad creative cost?
Posting a job, reviewing applicants and sending offers are free. You set a fixed price per video and pay only when a creator accepts your offer. The full amount is shown before you send the offer.
