01In short

What are micro influencers?

Micro influencers are creators with a small but engaged following, usually somewhere between 10,000 and 100,000 followers. Nano influencers have fewer still. Brands hire them because their audience is specific and trusts them, and because working with many small creators often costs less than one large one.

Octoclip is
A marketplace where brands post jobs and hire micro influencers directly, at a fixed price per video.
Octoclip is not
An agency, an influencer database or a pay-per-view clipping tool.

02The guide

How to work with micro influencers.

Five steps, from the first job to the creators you keep rehiring.

  1. Decide what you want posted

One product, one message, one platform per job. A creator with a small audience is hired for a clear, honest recommendation.

  2. Set the follower range

Add a minimum follower count to the job, so creators know the size you are looking for before they apply.

  3. Let them come to you

Creators who apply already want to work with your brand. You read their note, look at their recent videos and choose.

  4. Hire several at once

Ten small creators reach ten different audiences. One brief and one price cover all of them.

  5. Keep the ones that fit

Rehire the creators whose posts you liked, and run their posts as Spark Ads or partnership ads to reach further.

03Two ways to work

Creator posts or UGC videos: which do you need?

Each job is one type. You set the price per video, and creators see it before they apply.

Creator post

Job type

The creator publishes on their own TikTok, Instagram or YouTube, to their own audience. You get the live post to repost and run as an ad.

05Ideas to brief

Micro influencer campaign ideas.

Four posts brands ask small creators for most. Pick one when you post a job, or write your own.

08Avoid these

Four mistakes brands make with micro influencers.

  • Choosing by follower count alone

A small, specific audience is the point. Look at the recent videos and who they are made for, and check the audience with the engagement rate calculator.

  • Paying for views

Views depend on the algorithm. A fixed price per approved video keeps your cost known and the deal fair to the creator.

  • Betting on one creator

One post tells you little. Several creators on the same brief show you which opening and which face to repeat.

  • Leaving usage rights vague

Agree before filming where the post can be used. On Octoclip the terms are on the contract both sides accept.

How many followers does a micro influencer have?

There is no single rule. Most people use the term for creators with roughly 10,000 to 100,000 followers, and nano influencer for smaller accounts. On Octoclip you set the minimum follower count yourself on each job.

How much do micro influencers charge?

Posting a job, reviewing applicants and sending offers are free. You set a fixed price per video and pay only when a creator accepts your offer. The full amount is shown before you send the offer.

How do I find micro influencers?

Post a job with the platform, the follower minimum and the price per video. Creators who fit apply to you, so you choose from people who already want the work. More in how to find influencers.

What is the difference between a micro influencer and a nano influencer?

Size. Nano influencers are the smallest accounts, micro influencers the next step up. Both tend to have close audiences. You can hire either on Octoclip by setting the follower minimum on the job.

Can I run a micro influencer’s post as an ad?

Yes. The contract both sides accept lets you use approved content in paid ads, including Spark Ads and partnership ads. Ask for the ad code or approval in your brief so the creator knows before they apply.

Will micro influencers get me more sales?

A recommendation from someone people already follow is why brands hire small creators. Octoclip does not sell or guarantee downloads, installs or views. You pay a fixed price for each approved video.

When is a creator paid?

Their payment is secured when they accept, before any work starts, and released for each video you approve.

Is Octoclip an influencer agency?

No. You choose and hire creators directly. Octoclip runs the jobs, contracts, approvals and payments in between.
