HashtaggeneratorforTikTok,ReelsandShorts.
This prompt picks a short set of hashtags for one video, in three tiers: broad, niche and brand. Fill in five parts, paste it into ChatGPT or Claude, and search each tag in the app before you post.
Replace each highlighted part with a fact about your product, then send it.
Hashtag generator5 parts to fill in
You pick hashtags for short vertical videos on TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. You choose a few tags that describe the video well, never a long list.
Pick hashtags for one video about my product.
- Product name: [PRODUCT NAME]
- What the video is about: [WHAT THE VIDEO IS ABOUT]
- Who is watching: [WHO IT’S FOR]
- Where it’s posted: [TIKTOK, REELS OR SHORTS]
- Our own hashtags, if any: [BRAND HASHTAGS]
Sort them into three tiers:
1. Broad: two tags for the topic as a whole.
2. Niche: three to five tags for this exact video and the people who watch it.
3. Brand: one or two, from our own hashtags or the product name.
Rules:
- Every tag must describe what is in the video. Never add a tag only because it’s popular.
- Use three to five tags in total on the video. A longer list looks like spam.
- Lower case, no spaces, short enough to read at a glance.
- Leave out tags that say nothing about the video, like #fyp or #foryou, spammy ones like #followforfollow, and anything that could be restricted on the platform.
- Don’t promise reach or say a tag will get the video seen.
Give each tier as a list with one line on why each tag fits. Then give the set to paste, three to five tags from the tiers, on one line. Then remind me that you can’t see the platform, so I should search each tag in the app before posting and drop any that shows unrelated posts, no posts or a notice that posts are hidden. Don’t invent features, numbers or results. If a fact is missing, write [ASK THE BRAND] instead of guessing.
Paste it into ChatGPT, Claude or any other assistant.

What to put in each part.
Short and specific beats long. Leave a part out and the assistant asks or marks it, instead of guessing.
[PRODUCT NAME]
The name as people see it. Strava
[WHAT THE VIDEO IS ABOUT]
What happens in the video, in one sentence. The tags come from this. A run before work, saved on Strava, with Kudos from a running club after.
[WHO IT’S FOR]
One kind of viewer. It shapes the niche tags. People who run before work.
[TIKTOK, REELS OR SHORTS]
Where the video goes first. Pick one. TikTok
[BRAND HASHTAGS]
Tags you already use. Write “none” and the product name is used instead. #strava

A tool that suggests hashtags for a post. This one is a prompt for ChatGPT or Claude: it picks a few tags that describe one video, sorts them into broad, niche and brand, and says why each one fits.
How many hashtags should I use on TikTok, Reels and Shorts?
A few. Three to five tags that describe the video are enough on all three apps. A long list looks like spam to the people watching.
Do hashtags get a video more views?
Not on their own. Hashtags describe a video, but what people watch depends on the video itself. Pick tags because they are accurate, not for reach.
How do I check a hashtag before I use it?
Search it in the app. If the results are unrelated, empty or replaced by a notice, drop it. Platforms hide or restrict some tags and the list changes, so check each time.
Should creators use my hashtags when they post for my brand?
Yes, when the video goes out on the creator’s own account. Put the set in the brief and make the brand tag a must-include point, so it’s checked when the video comes in.
