## Copy the prompt.

Replace each highlighted part with a fact about your product, then send it.

Brand guidelines template 5 parts to fill in

```text
You write brand guidelines for creators who film short vertical videos on their phones for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. They are not designers, so every rule must be something they can see and check in their own video.
Write a one-page brand guidelines sheet a creator can follow when they film a video about my product.
- Brand name, written exactly as it should appear: [BRAND NAME]
- What the product does, in one sentence: [WHAT IT DOES]
- How the brand talks: [HOW THE BRAND SOUNDS]
- The screens or moments creators should show: [WHAT TO SHOW]
- What is off-limits: [WHAT TO AVOID]
Rules:
- Each rule fits on one line and starts with what to do.
- Write for a phone video. Leave out color codes, fonts and print rules unless I gave them.
- The product is shown in real use, on the creator’s own phone or in their hands.
- Set limits and leave the wording to the creator. Guidelines are not a script.
Use these four headings:
1. The product on screen: what to show, how, and for how long.
2. Words: the tone in one line, then words to use and words to avoid.
3. Visual dos and don’ts: light, framing, text on screen, sound and what else is in the shot.
4. Name and logo: how the name is written and said, and what the creator may and may not do with the logo.
Keep it under 250 words. Don’t invent features, numbers or results. If a fact is missing, write [ASK THE BRAND] instead of guessing.
```

Paste it into ChatGPT, Claude or any other assistant.

**02** Fill it in

## What to put in each part.

Short and specific beats long. Leave a part out and the assistant asks or marks it, instead of guessing.

- **[BRAND NAME]**: Exactly as it should appear, capitals included. **Spotify**
- **[WHAT IT DOES]**: One sentence, the way you’d say it to a friend. **Music and podcasts, with playlists like Discover Weekly.**
- **[HOW THE BRAND SOUNDS]**: A few words, or paste your brand voice if you have one. **Playful, like a friend who sends you a song.**
- **[WHAT TO SHOW]**: The screens or moments you want in every video. **A playlist or Discover Weekly playing on the creator’s own phone.**
- **[WHAT TO AVOID]**: Claims, words, other brands and anything legal asked you to leave out. **Copyrighted songs as the soundtrack, other music apps on screen.**

2. playlist, Discover Weekly, podcast, “on Spotify” Use

- – Don’t: use a copyrighted song as the video’s soundtrack.
- – Don’t: show other music apps or their logos.

Name and logo

- Say it once, out loud.

## Turn the guidelines into a job.

Paste the page into the brief once, and every creator who applies reads the same rules.

Where each part goes

1. **The product on screen** Must-include points
2. **Words to use and avoid** Brief
3. **Visual dos and don’ts** Brief
4. **The name, said out loud** Must-include points

1. Free **Post a job free.** Paste the result into the brief. Give each hook or angle to a different video.
2. You choose **Pick from who applies.** Creators apply to film it. Watch their videos and send an offer to the ones you like, at the price per video you set.
3. One revision **Review against your points.** Each must-include point is a check when the video comes in. A video that misses one gets a revision request that names it.

### What should a brand guidelines template include?

For creator videos, four things: how the product appears on screen, words to use and avoid, visual dos and don’ts, and how the name and logo are used. One page is enough. A long brand book written for designers rarely gets read before filming.

### How are brand guidelines different from a creative brief?

Guidelines stay the same for every video. A brief changes with each one: the idea, the shots, the hooks. Send both, the [creative brief](https://octoclip.io/prompts/creative-brief-template) for this video and the guidelines under it.

### Should creators add my logo to the video?

Usually not. The app on their phone or the product in their hands already shows the brand. A logo added on top tends to make a video look like an ad.

### Is this brand guidelines template free?

Yes. Copy it and use it as often as you like. You don’t need an Octoclip account.

### How do creators on Octoclip see my guidelines?

Paste them into the brief when you post a job, free. Creators read the brief before they apply, and each must-include point is checked when the video comes in.
