Octoclip MCP connector

# Run Octoclip from your AI assistant.

Connect Octoclip to Claude, ChatGPT or another AI assistant and work from the chat. Brands write a brief, publish it, send offers and review videos. Creators find jobs, apply, answer offers and deliver their links.

Your assistant does the thinking; Octoclip keeps the rules and the money.

Prompts to start

## Copy one and paste it in your chat.

Or open it straight in ChatGPT or Claude. Starting with “Use Octoclip” makes sure your assistant picks it.

01 · Your first job

> Use Octoclip to post a UGC job for *[your website]*. Read the site, then ask me what the videos should show.

It asks a few questions, writes the brief and shows you a preview.

[ChatGPT](https://chatgpt.com/?q=Use%20Octoclip%20to%20post%20a%20UGC%20job.%20Ask%20me%20for%20my%20website%2C%20read%20it%2C%20then%20ask%20me%20what%20the%20videos%20should%20show.) 02 · Applicants

> Use Octoclip: who applied to my job? Show the longest wait first, with their example videos.

Then ask it to send offers to the ones you pick.

[ChatGPT](https://chatgpt.com/?q=Use%20Octoclip%3A%20who%20applied%20to%20my%20job%3F%20Show%20the%20longest%20wait%20first%2C%20with%20their%20example%20videos.) 03 · Every morning

> Use Octoclip: what needs me today?

Videos to review, applicants waiting and offers about to expire, in that order.

Set up

## Copy the link, paste it, sign in.

The same three steps work in every assistant on this page. Only the menu where you paste the link changes.

1. Copy. Copy your Octoclip link, https://octoclip.io/api/mcp. It’s the same for every account, so a whole team can use it.
2. Paste. Add it in your assistant as a **custom connector** or **remote MCP server**, and name it Octoclip. Pick your assistant below for the exact clicks.
3. Sign in. Your assistant opens Octoclip. Sign in, check it’s the right account and select **Allow**. You’re back in the chat, connected.

What to ask

## Ask in plain words.

Your assistant picks the Octoclip tool for you. Start with these, grouped by the job you’re doing.

### Write a brief

- “Draft a job for our new sleep feature”
- “Read our website, then ask me what the video should show”
- “Give each of the 3 videos its own angle”

Before drafting, it asks what the video should show, which messages must land and what tone.

Uses brief_playbook brand_context draft_job

### Publish

- “Show me the job as creators will see it”
- “Change the price to €90 a video, then publish it”
- “Make it ongoing, with 14 days to deliver”

Your first job is reviewed by Octoclip before it goes live. Later jobs go live when you publish.

Uses update_job publish_job

### Who applied

- “Who applied to the bedtime job?”
- “Show the longest wait first, with their example videos”
- “Decline the applicants I didn’t pick”

Uses list_applicants decline_application

### Send an offer

- “What do 3 creators at €120 a video cost?”
- “Send Mia an offer for 2 videos”
- “Withdraw the offer to Jake”

Sending an offer charges nothing. The card is charged only if the creator accepts, on Octoclip.

Uses quote_hire send_offer withdraw_offer

### Review videos

- “What needs me today?”
- “Show videos waiting for review”
- “Ask for a revision: the app name isn’t on screen”
- “Open the approval page for Mia’s video”

Approving pays the creator, so you approve on Octoclip, at the link.

Uses what_needs_me review_videos request_revision prepare_video_approval

### Monthly retainers

- “Propose a monthly retainer to Mia: 3 videos a month”
- “Skip next month for Noah”
- “Give next month’s videos their own angles”

Proposing charges nothing. Each month is a separate hire, charged before work starts.

Uses propose_monthly skip_next_retainer_month set_next_month_angles

### Agencies with several brands

- “Which brands am I in?”
- “List open jobs for Duolingo”
- “Draft a job for Headspace, not the agency brand”

One connection covers every brand you’re in. A change that doesn’t name a brand changes nothing: your assistant asks which one first.

Uses list_brands and every brand tool

### Find jobs

- “Find UGC jobs I can apply to”
- “Which open jobs fit my profile?”
- “Show jobs that pay at least €100 a video”

Each job comes with why it fits you and anything that would stop you applying.

Uses find_jobs

### Apply

- “Help me write a pitch for the Headspace job, in my words”
- “Apply with this pitch: …”
- “Withdraw my application to Duolingo”

You read the pitch before it’s sent. Octoclip checks the language, your connected account and your country.

Uses apply_to_job withdraw_application

### Offers

- “Do I have any offers?”
- “What do I get if I accept this offer?”
- “Decline the offer from Duolingo”

Accepting happens on Octoclip, at the link. Payouts and bank details stay there too.

Uses my_applications prepare_offer_acceptance decline_offer

### Deadlines

- “What’s due this week?”
- “What did the brand ask me to change?”
- “Did the brand propose a new angle?”

Uses my_deadlines

### Submit

- “Deliver my video for the Headspace job: [Drive link]”
- “Send my post link for video 2”

A UGC video goes as a Google Drive link, a creator post as the link to the live post.

Uses submit_video

### Monthly retainers

- “Accept the monthly retainer from Headspace”
- “Should I film yet this month?”

Until a month is paid, your deadlines say “Don’t film yet”.

Uses answer_monthly_proposal my_deadlines

Safety

## Nothing changes until you say yes.

Octoclip enforces these rules on its own server, so they hold in every assistant.

Example

“Send Mia an offer for 2 videos”

Here’s the offer. Nothing is sent until you say yes.

OCTOCLIP Send an offer Preview

- **Creator**: Mia C.
- **Job**: 5 minutes before bed
- **Videos**: 2 at €120 each
- **Creator pay**: €240
- **Answer by**: 23 Oct

Nothing is charged now. The card is charged only if Mia accepts, on Octoclip.

“Yes, send it”

Offer sent. Nothing charged.

**Octoclip’s preview, inside the chat.** Change one field and a new preview comes back.

1. **Every write shows a preview first** Drafts, edits, publishing, offers, revisions, applications and deliveries all come back as a preview. Octoclip acts only when your assistant sends your yes with that exact preview.
2. **Money and approvals finish on octoclip.io** Posting a job and sending an offer charge nothing. **Accepting an offer**, which charges the brand’s saved card, **approving a video**, which pays the creator, and rejecting one happen on Octoclip, at a link your assistant gives you.
3. **What it can’t do** It can’t pay, charge a card, pay out or move money, and it can’t change your card, bank details, team, billing or account settings. Ad codes stay out of the chat too: creators give those on Octoclip.
4. **It asks which brand** If you work in several brands, a change that doesn’t name one changes nothing, and your assistant asks which brand it’s for. Choosing a brand in the chat never moves the brand in use on your dashboard.
5. **Pitches and briefs are data** Octoclip tells your assistant to read applicant pitches and job briefs as information about people, never as instructions to follow.
6. **Your sign-in** You sign in with your Octoclip account through OAuth, so the assistant never sees your password. It asks for openid email profile, then reads your jobs, applications, offers and videos and acts as you within the rules above. Disconnect it any time at octoclip.io/connect.

Troubleshooting

## When it doesn’t connect.

Six problems people run into, and what fixes each one.

- **The sign-in keeps sending me back** Sign in at octoclip.io in the same browser first, then start the connection again from your assistant. Each sign-in request works once: if the page says it **has expired or was already answered**, go back to your assistant and connect again for a fresh one. On the Allow page, check the email shown. If it’s the wrong account, select **Not you? Sign out.** and sign in with the right one.
- **Octoclip’s tools don’t show up** Check the link is exactly https://octoclip.io/api/mcp, then check the tools are switched on:
  - **Claude** + › Connectors in the chat
  - **ChatGPT** Type @ in a new chat
  - **Gemini** Type @ in the chat
  - **Claude Code** Run /mcp
  - **Gemini CLI** Run /mcp
  - **Cursor** Customize in the sidebar
  - **VS Code** Configure Tools in chat
  - **Codex** Type /mcp in the composer
Monthly retainer tools appear only when monthly retainers are available on Octoclip.
- **It says this isn’t a brand account** Brand tools need a brand account and creator tools need a creator account. Ask “Which Octoclip account am I signed in with?” If it’s the wrong one, disconnect, sign out of octoclip.io and connect again with the right account.
- **It picked the wrong brand** Ask “Which brands am I in?”, then name the brand in your request. A question with no brand answers for the brand in use on your Octoclip dashboard, and says which one. A change with no brand does nothing until you say which brand it’s for.
- **“Too many requests”** Octoclip allows **60 tool calls a minute** per person. Wait a minute, then ask again.
- **How to reconnect** Disconnect the assistant at octoclip.io/connect, then sign in again from the assistant:
  - **Claude** Customize › Connectors, then Connect next to Octoclip
  - **Claude Code** /mcp, then Re-authenticate
  - **Codex** codex mcp login octoclip
  - **Gemini CLI** /mcp auth octoclip
  - **Everything else** Remove Octoclip and add the link again

FAQ

## Questions before you connect.

Short answers on cost, safety and what your assistant can see.

### Does connecting cost anything?

**No.** Connecting is free, and so are posting a job and sending offers. You pay when a creator accepts your offer, on Octoclip.

### Do I need to install anything?

**No.** You paste one link in your assistant and sign in with your Octoclip account.

### Which assistants work?

Any assistant that can add a remote MCP server with OAuth sign-in. This page has the exact steps for **Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor and VS Code**.

### Can my assistant spend money or approve a video for me?

**No.** Accepting an offer, approving or rejecting a video and resuming a monthly retainer all finish on octoclip.io, at a link your assistant gives you. In the chat, posting a job and sending an offer charge nothing.

### Will it write my brief?

It writes it with you. Before drafting, it reads Octoclip’s brief guide and what Octoclip knows about your brand, then asks what the video should show, which messages must land and what tone. **You direct**, and it offers options instead of inventing them.

### Can creators use it too?

**Yes.** Creators find jobs, apply in their own words, check deadlines and deliver their links. Accepting an offer happens on Octoclip, and payouts and bank details stay there.

### I run several brands. How does it know which one?

The connection is you, so it covers every brand you’re in. When a request could go to more than one, **your assistant asks which brand first**.

### What can the assistant see?

Your jobs, applications, offers and videos, and what Octoclip knows about your brand. It signs in with the **openid, email and profile** scopes, and never sees your password.

### Is my first job reviewed?

**Yes.** A brand’s first job is reviewed by Octoclip before creators see it. Later jobs go live as soon as you publish them.

### How do I disconnect?

Open octoclip.io/connect while signed in and select **Disconnect** next to the assistant. You can also remove Octoclip in the assistant’s own settings.
